Tele-work (also known as telecommuting) means working at home or at a satellite office or telework center one or more days a week, rather than commuting to a central office. Tele-work programs are in use worldwide, and have been shown to boost productivity, help recruit new talent, improve employee morale, save on office space and maintenance, and reduce energy and transportation costs.

Tele-work is usually reserved for permanent employees who have been with the organization long enough to understand its work culture and the responsibilities that come with their positions.
